Practicality Brown Ltd transplanted 29 Commemorative trees at a care home in Ascot to make way for a new building. All the trees were in the 20-50cm girth size and were carefully pruned ready for transplanting into a woodland walk on the same site, which we undertook with our tree spade machine, enriching the environment […]
Practicality Brown worked on the dual carriage scheme of the A11 in Norfolk, which involved cutting and mulching of 1000’s of tree stumps, day and night. Conditions where made worse by the extreme weather; excessive rain followed by heavy snow, however no day’s work was lost, particularly due to our determination to complete the project […]
Practicality Brown Ltd supplied and planted a high hedge to screen a swimming pool area in a private garden. We used Thuja Occidentalis ‘Brabant’ or more commonly, White Cedar, for this project. The individual hedging plants were 4.5m high and allowed the area to be enclosed for total privacy.
With a reputation for sourcing specimen trees, we were asked to supply and plant an Oak tree in Datchet to commemorate Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Celebration. We supplied a Quercus Robur (English Oak) which was 30 cm girth with a spread of about 3 metres and around 7 metres high. This village event started in […]

The residents had their existing trees removed during the demolition of the old boundary wall to make way for the erection of a new one. Each replacement tree had to be […]
A private client in Walton on Thames was seeking trees to complement their front garden and selected trees from our nursery, under the guidance of our experienced horticultural specialist. Five deciduous trees were chosen for appearance and suitability for their location. The chosen trees were a Purple Beech (Fagus sylvatica ‘Purpurea’) with a girth of 35-40cm girth, a […]
With a reputation for planting big trees, we were asked to plant three very large, semi mature tulip trees (Liriodendron), at a private garden on the Oxfordshire/ Berkshire borders. Over 13 metres tall and girth circumferences of 100cm+, these trees required careful transportation, lifting and handling during installation. See the hedge & tree projects page for more images.
The customers requirement was simple, an effective screen from passing ramblers. We suggested Yew hedging plants at 2.5 metre high and 79 linear metres was carefully planned and planted in just two days. In addition, Elveden Instant Hedge in Native Mix was planted in another area of the property, helping to create a mature garden […]
Screening Trees A client living in Thurloe Square, London (near the Victoria and Albert Museum) wanted trees as a screen in their rear garden, which had no vehicular access. Our solution was to use a crane to lift the Hornbeam (Carpinus betulus) trees into position. With the limited access, this project required road closures; then […]
The new development of individually styled period houses was softened into the environment by the judicious installation of evergreen Elveden Instant Hedge. Common Laurel (Prunus laurocerasus ‘Rotundifloia’) was chosen for its soft, pale green, fresh look and its even, vigorous growth that provides a year round hedge which reliably screens any new build project. Common Yew […]
