Description
Acer saccharum or the sugar maple is a large tree with a broadly oval habit and graceful, upswept branches. It gets its common name from the maple syrup that is the main source for maple syrup. The greenish yellow flowers of Acer saccharum unfold on bare branches in spring followed by mid-green leaves that make for a colourful autumn display of red, yellow, orange and scarlet.
