Description
Crataegus laevigata ‘Paul’s Scarlet’ is a stunning hawthorn tree is at its most stunning in May when it is covered in its scarlet, double flowers. It also looks striking in the autumn when it produces deep red berries. This large shrub has thin, sharp thorns and grows into a rounded shape due to its lateral growing branches. Leaves are ovate, 3-5 lobed and have a lighter shade of green on the under side of the leaf. It is a hardy tree, which grows particularly well in urban climates. The RHS has given this species the Award of Garden Merit.
