Description
Fraxinus excelsior ‘Atlas’ has a slender pyramidal crown and is relatively late-sprouting. The shiny dark green leaf is odd-pinnate and turns yellow in autumn. Useful as an avenue and street tree as it is wind resistant, ‘Atlas’ prefers rich, moist soil.
We are currently unable to import Ash trees due to ash dieback disease. The disease is caused by the fungus Chalara fraxinea and leads to leaf loss and for some death. Ash dieback is now present in most parts of England, although the severity of the disease varies locally. The Arboricultural Association has compiled this useful guide please follow the link for more information.
