Description
Juglans nigra or the black walnut originally from North East America. It is a large tree suitable for parklands. The edible nuts ripen from the end of August but are hard to extract from the thick shell. The tree has yellow autumn colour but the leaves drop in early September.
Ideal conditions – Sun to light shade. Tolerates heat and is also frost hardy. Shows good wind and pollution resistance.
