Description
Magnolia sieboldii is a very small deciduous tree with oblong leaves. It has gracefully nodding fragrant flowers that emerge from egg-shaped buds which open to reveal deep-red stamens with bright white petals. In addition to the blooms, Siebold’s magnolia produces oval fruits which turn carmine in autumn and are quite eye-catching when framed by the yellow autumn foliage. Magnolia sieboldii thrives best on free draining soils and will tolerate lime though like all magnolias prefers it acid.
