Description
Apple ‘John Downie’ is a small tree gives a profuse display of pretty white flowers in spring. The large conical fruits are orange-red, with a good flavour, making useful preserves and Crab Apple jelly. In the autumn time the foliage turns classically lemony yellow and brown.
Like all crab apples, Malus domestica John Downie thrives on most soils and is especially useful for planting on clay soils.
