Description
Osmanthus aquifolium is also known as holly olive, Chinese holly or false holly. It originates from Japan. The glossy tooth edged leaves resemble Holly and form an upright but spreading plant. Fragrant white flowers appear in autumn amongst the leaves and branches, followed by blue/ black berries. Slow growing and hardy down to -15c, preferring a sheltered position.
This low maintenance tree is generally pest free and will thrive in moist well drained soil. Height and spread around 4-8 metres.
Ideal Conditions: Grows well in most soil, full sun or partial shade.
Maximum Height: 5 metres
