Description
Photinia serratifolia ‘Crunchy’ (Chinese hawthorn) is a unusual variety similar to the normal Photinia Red Robin but is generally darker in tone.
The springtime bronze-red foliage is bright on a copper stem and it matures to deep purple-bronze with tinges of green. The attractive foliage remains in place all year round in dense well-branched shapes. In late spring small white flowers bloom on the tips of its branches contrasting with the dark foliage and attracting wildlife.
As with all Photinias serratifolia ‘Crunchy’ is an attractive evergreen tree perfect for garden privacy screening. It is Evergreen and fully hardy.
Position: Full sun or partial shade in well drained soil.
Ideal Conditions: Chalk-free, moist but well-drained soil, sunny to semi-shaded location
