Description
Prunus avium Plena
A double flowering version of our Native Wild Cherry. The buds are pink opening to a mass of double white flowers. The tree shows good autumn colour of orange to scarlet to red. The can produce fruit but does so rarely. A good tree for a parkland/woodland setting but it also copes well in urban areas.
Ideal conditions – Sun or part shade. Thrives in a moist neutral to chalky loamy soil. Likes warmth and is frost hardy but is sensitive to strong wind.
