Description
Prunus caroliniana originated from South-Eastern USA. It is a medium-sized tree that is pyramidal in youth, becoming a loosely oval habit with maturity. Its leaves are a glossy, dark green and about 6-12 cm in length. They are elliptical and slightly waved in shape. In late winter to spring, beautiful cream coloured flowers are produced in racemes about 5-8 cm long. All parts of this plant can be poisonous, so it should be planted away from livestock and children. When crushed or damaged the leaves and twigs emit an almond fragrance.
