Quercus robur, English oak
Our Native English or Common Oak, a large majestic tree can be found across the length and breadth of the UK and is particularly suitable for parkland and large estates, creating a statement for avenues and wide verges. The foliage is a dark, glossy, green which turns to golden brown in the autumn accompanied by acorns, which make it a good tree for supporting wildlife.
Ideal conditions – Sun to light shade. Frost hardy and wind resistant. Very tolerant of different soils.
Maximum height 20 – 30 metres
Please note that all Quercus are subject to special conditions due to rules regarding oak processionary moth.
NB. We can move oaks, subject to spraying and inspection into the Blue area but not into the Buffer zone or into the Protected zone
