Description
Quercus rubra or red oak is a fast growing, upright tree with a single straight stem and a huge billowing top. The bark is silver-grey and smooth like beech. The large leaves are dark green turning red or orange-red in autumn. It has egg-shaped large acorns in broad flat cups. Quercus rubra can tolerate dry soil, drought and air pollution it thrives best on fertile well drained soils.
Please note that all Quercus are subject to special conditions due to rules regarding oak processionary moth.
