Description
Sequoiadendron giganteum or Giant Redwood is a massive tree growing to 25-35m tall and forming a dense conical crown.
This evergreen conifer is a native to California where this spectacular tree is long lived and huge. Its small leaves are a light bluey-green and thick, reddish-brown bark is deeply furrowed, with a spongy feel and flaky look to it.
Also known as Wellingtonia, this huge tree thrives in all soils that drain and in full sun or light dappled shade. As it names suggests, this is a tree that needs plenty of space and is one for parklands or large open areas only.
