Description
Sophora japonica or the pagoda tree grows into a lofty tree 10-20m tall with an equal spread. A popular ornamental tree, grown for its attractive bright green foliage. Once mature, the tree produces yellow-white, pea like flowers that hang in racemes. In the autumn long grey seed pods are borne that are held on the tree throughout the winter. Sophora japonica also has interesting dark green bark with small white flecks/lines up all the way up the stem.
