Sorbus aria ‘Magnifica’
This Whitebeam has larger leaves than Sorbus aria ‘Lutescens’ with a green leaf surface and grey underneath. It has white scented flowers in April/May followed by orange / red fruits in the autumn, followed by golden brown autumn foliage. ‘Magnifica’ looses it leaves much later than Sorbus aria Lutescens. Therefore these two make a good pairing when planting as an avenue of trees
A good choice for parks, streets and also urban gardens as it requires little maintenance. A great ornamental tree with seasonal interest.
Ideal conditions – Sun to partial shade. Frost hardy and wind resistant. It is generally undemanding and adaptable to soil conditions. Moist but well drained soil.
