Description
Thuja orientalis ‘Aurea Nana’ or the Dwarf Golden Oriental Thuja originates from northwest China. It is a miniature tree, or large shrub, that grows to 2-3 metres and can have a spread to match. Leaves grow in flat sprays and are scale-like. They are yellow-green in colour, slightly darkening with age, and around 0.4 cm in length. It also produces small, grey cones, up to 3 cm long.
This is a slow growing variety that grows 2-5 cm per year. Also listed as Platycladus orientalis ‘Aurea Nana’ this fine shrub has been given an Award of Merit by The RHS.
Ideal Conditions: Thuja orientalis ‘Aurea Nana’ grow well in all soil but needs sun, keep protected from strong winds
