Description

Zelkova serrata or Japanese zelkova or Keyaki is a spreading medium-sized deciduous tree with smooth grey bark flakes attractively as the tree matures. It won the Award of Garden Merit in 2002. The foliage is bright green in spring, turning a range of colours from red through to bronze in autumn. Keyaki perform best in fertile, sandy and loamy soils.
